Source3 Energy X Inc (Source3X) has inked a pact for the development of a complex for large-scale production of clean hydrogen from renewables and other energy sources at the Skeena Industrial Development Park (SIDP) in British Columbia, Canada.

Source3X and SIDP have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub in the city of Terrace, a joint press statement said on Monday.

The complex is expected to produce 50,000 tonnes per annum of carbon-free hydrogen or its downstream products such as clean ammonia, e-fuels or sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) annually. It is planned to serve both local and global demand for clean fuels.

"We expect long-term exponential growth in demand for green hydrogen and its downstream products not only globally, but also in Canada. Terrace is a major hub for energy, road and rail transportation in Pacific Canada, and we look forward to providing a pathway to decarbonise heavy-duty transportation and other industries," Source3X’ CEO Ayaz Khokhar said.

SIDP is a joint venture between Kitselas First Nation and the City of Terrace. The industrial park currently has four property owners with a significant amount of land still available for development, according to the website of the City of Terrace.

Oakville, Ontario-based Source3X is an independent development and investment firm focused on power and renewables, energy storage, transport and emerging energy vector sectors.
