The renewables share the nation’s total electricity production rose to 55.9% in October from 53% the month prior, as REE estimated.

Wind farms were Spain’s top producers of electricity during the month, accounting for 26.3% of the power generation mix. Behind them were nuclear power plants, with a 21.3% share, hydroelectric plants with 13.8%, and photovoltaic solar plants generating 13.4% of the total.

REE’s estimates for renewables and selected non-renewable energy technologies are presented in the table below:

Technology: Estimated generation in GWh: y/y change: Share in October:
Wind 5,678 -2.0% 26.3%
Hydro 2,975 104.3% 13.8%
Solar PV 2,892 9.1% 13.4%
Solar CSP 177 -22.2% 0.8%
