Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSpanish engineering services company Global Dominion Access SA (BME:DOM) said on Wednesday it had secured the award for its 60-MW solar PV project in Ecuador’s international competition for 500 MW worth of renewable energy concessions.
Dominion offered the solar energy at a price of USD 66.988 (EUR 61.23) per MWh, which was the highest of all ten bids that reached the final round but still below the government’s cap for solar.
Last month, Ecuador’s ministry of energy and mining unveiled the list of ten economic offers in its tender for 150 MW of small-scale hydro, 200 MW of wind power, 120 MW of solar PV and 30 MW of biogas or biomass-based plants. All of these offers were below the ministry’s ceiling prices for each technology.
No one placed an offer for biomass. Proposals for wind, hydro and solar will together bring around 511 MW, close to the government’s target capacity for this tender.
The official results have not yet been released. Dominion said that all ten economic offers had been accepted and awarded.
For the Spanish company, the awarded project will be its first in Ecuador that it will develop from ground up. At present, Dominion is managing operation and maintenance of an unspecified 3.5-MW plant in the country, it said.
