Spain's Gamesa to supply 30 MW turbines for Mauritania's first commercial wind farm

Nov 6, 2013 - Spanish wind turbines producer Gamesa (MCE:GAM) today said will supply 30 MW turbines for Mauritania's first commercial wind farm, which is being built by Spanish power company Elecnor (MCE:ENO).

The amount of the contract has not been disclosed.

Turbine delivery is scheduled for early 2014. Under the deal Gamesa will install 15 units of its 2-MW wind turbines and will be also in charge of operation and maintenance services for 11 years. The facility should be completed by mid-2014, it is located in the capital Nouakchott.

The farm is owned by Somelec, Mauritania's state-owned power utility. Gamesa's presence in Africa spans Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt, where it has a total capacity of 860 MW including installed and under maintenance contracts.
