Spanish boutique hotel chain Group Room Mate is seeking to purchase a solar farm in an effort to meet power demand at its sites.

The chain’s intentions were revealed on Thursday by the founder, Enrique Sarasola, who made the announcement at the annual summit of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in Seville, according to a report by Spanish business newspaper Expansion.

While the project is still in the early stage, Room Mate has already started the search for its future solar farm and initiated talks regarding the purchase.

Sarasola has admitted that the investment is high, adding that this type of projects can count on EU aid, Expansion says.
