Spain's Ingeteam supplies solar inverters for Oslomej PV plant in N. Macedonia

Spanish supplier of electrical conversion equipment Ingeteam said on Thursday it has supplied solar inverters for a photovoltaic plant in North Macedonia, which is currently under construction at the location of an old mine in the Oslomej village.

Ingeteam supplied eight solar inverters of 1,400 kW each for the first phase of the solar power plant, which is built by Europower Solar, part of Turkey's Girisim Elektrik, Ingeteam said in a press release.

North Macedonia's state-owned electricity company ESM signed an agreement with Girisim Elektrik for installing about 10 MW in Oslomej in November 2019. This phase of the project is financed through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The country also plans to install additional 100 MW of solar power capacity at the location which would replace the thermal power plant TEC Oslomej adjacent to the mine. For that purpose, the government signed contracts worth 70 million euro ($77.6 million) with Bulgarian solar energy group Solarpro Holding and Turkish Fortis Energy Electric in June 2021. Under the deals, each of the companies will build one solar power plant with an installed capacity of 50 MW at the location as part of a public-private partnership (PPP) with ESM, the government said at the time.
