Spanish vertically integrated solar energy specialist Soltec Power Holdings SA (BME:SOL) said on Tuesday that it has obtained the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for five solar projects in Italy so far in 2024, securing approval for a total of 220 MW.

The five projects are: Altogianni 1 and Altogianni 2 of 40 MW and situated in the region of Basilicata; 34-MW Sparpagliata, 34-MW Lopez, and 50-MW Lo Schiavo in Puglia; and the 61-MW Ururi project in Molise.

At the end of 2023, Soltec obtained positive EIAs for four projects with a total capacity of 195 MW. With the latest five, the Spanish group now has environmental approval in place for 415 MW of solar projects in Italy, the company said.

According to Soltec’s CEO Mariano Berges del Estal, the projects will have agrivoltaic features.

Said Berges: “The development of agrivoltaic projects in Italy is of strategic importance for Soltec. We are very pleased with the progress made in the country and the achievement of these environmental authorizations, which further prove the absolute quality of our projects”.

Soltec considers Italy to be its strategic market, alongside Spain and Brazil. Specifically in Italy, the company has a 2.68-GW pipeline of projects in various stages of development.
