Spanish renewable energy firm Zelestra has started building two solar farms with a total capacity of 83 MW in the Castile-La Mancha region of Spain, a press release said on Wednesday.

Construction of the 50.4-MW Jose Cabrera solar farm is taking place in Guadalajara province, while the 33-MW Socovos II site is located in Albacete, Zelestra said. The company announced these projects a week ago, when it unveiled a virtual power purchase agreement (vPPA) linked to their production.

Together, the two solar farms will generate around 143 GWh of electricity per year. US consumer packaging specialist Graphic Packaging International LLC procured 86% of this output under the vPPA with Zelestra.

The solar farms are expected to commence operation in 2025.
