Spanish engineering contractor Negratin announced on Friday the inauguration of a 100-MW solar farm complex, called Bosques Solares de Bolivar, in the town of Sabanalarga, Colombia.

The project, worth over COP 500 billion (USD 120.3m/EUR 110.2m), was developed and sponsored by Colombian power utility Isagen, which awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Negratin.

Bosques Solares de Bolivar consists of five solar farms. The complex is equipped with more than 190,000 bifacial solar panels placed on 5,500 fixed structures. Around 900 kilometres (559.2 miles) of cables connect the plant’s 385 inverters with 24 transformer stations, Negratin said.

The Spanish firm will also operate and maintain the complex.
