World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTFrench energy and communications multi-technical services provider Spie SA (EPA:SPIE) has taken a majority stake of 75% in German solar installer MBG energy GmbH in a drive to enhance its foothold in the photovoltaic roll-out market.
Established in 2018, Berlin-based MBG is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor with a focus on rooftop installation. The company, which is active in northeastern Germany, booked about EUR 15 million (USD 16.2m) in revenue in 2023.
With the investment, Spie gains expertise in the context of the recently adopted EU Solar Standard as part of the European Performance of Buildings Directive. It will also provide potential commercial synergies with the existing technical facility management segment of the French firm in Germany, it said in a recent statement.
The remaining 25% stake in the business is kept by MBG energy’s management team which comprises its founders. The financial terms of the transaction were kept under wraps.
