Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSri Lanka’s Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is seeking developers for a 10-MW solar project in Batticaloa district under a Request for Proposals (RfP) open by August 15.
According to CEB’s website, the project, called Vavunathivu, will be implemented on a build, own and operate (BOO) basis. A ceiling price for the auction has been set at LKR 18.37 (USD 0.120/EUR 0.102) per kWh.
The selected bidder will be awarded a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and will have to procure or lease land for the project. The developer will take care of obtaining all needed environmental and governmental approvals, as well as statutory licences, and cover the expenses related to connecting the plant to the local power grid.
The government of Sri Lanka aims to have 200 MW of newly-added solar capacity by 2020 and 1,000 MW by 2025 under its programme for promoting photovoltaic (PV) power called Soorya Bala Sangramaya, or Battle for Solar Energy. In April, the country’s Ministry of power and renewable energy and CEB issued a call for tenders for the installation of 60 MW of solar parks as part of the initiative.
