Brazil's Piaui govt clears operations for 300-MW wind park
Sep 12, 2024 9:29 CESTNorwegian state-owned energy company Statkraft AS on Wednesday inaugurated the 79.8-MW Morro do Cruzeiro wind park in Brazil's Bahia state.
Located in the municipality of Brotas de Macaubas, the wind park required an investment of BRL 600 million (USD 110.1m/EUR 99.9m) and features 14 wind turbines.
The wind farm is capable of generating an estimated 386 GWh of renewable power per year, enough to meet the demand of more than 190,000 local homes.
This is the second wind park the company has inaugurated in the country this year, following the 519-MW Ventos de Santa Eugenia wind complex also in Bahia state.
Statkraft noted it is currently working on two hybridisation projects. Specifically, it plans to implement 228 MW of solar projects at the same location as the above-mentioned two wind parks.
