Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTNorwegian renewable power producer Statkraft AS has agreed to supply 800 GWh of wind and solar electricity to German optics and optoelectronics firm ZEISS over a period of 11 years.
The two companies have signed a number of power purchase agreements (PPAs), each having a different term and starting date, to support ZEISS’ ambition to become climate-neutral in its own activities by 2025, according to a statement released on Thursday.

ZEISS has been buying power from some older wind farms within Statkraft's portfolio since 2021 and has now signed contracts for the output of a couple of new facilities. More specifically, it will begin souring electricity from two new onshore wind farms in Lower Saxony from 2025.
Additionally, electricity is being supplied by the 120-MWp Schornhof solar farm in Bavaria.
All of ZEISS’ locations in Germany have been using green electricity since the company’s fiscal year 2019/2020, the statement notes.
