Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTSep 18, 2012 - US solar systems installer Stellar Energy, a unit of Japanese Itochu Corp (TYO:8001), has completed a 960-kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system in California for movie director James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment Inc.
The system generates enough energy to power the film production company's sound stages and offices at Manhattan Beach Studios (MBS) Media Campus in Manhattan Beach, Stellar Energy said today. The property is owned by US asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ:CG) and run by Raleigh Studios.
The solar facility includes three roof-mounted arrays consisting of almost 3,700 modules.
Lightstorm Entertainment is best known for the Titanic and Avatar movies. "Going into AVATAR 2 and 3, we are going to be able produce enough solar energy to handle the entire electrical demand for our computers and performance capture systems here at MBS Media Campus," Cameron said.
