Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTIndia’s Sterling and Wilson Solar Ltd (NSE:SWSOLAR) on Thursday announced a contract to build a project combining 18.9 MWp of solar capacity, 11.55 MWh of battery energy storage and a diesel generator in Niger, West Africa.
The project, to be located in the city of Agadez, will be constructed by the company’s Hybrid & Energy Storage division (HES) in a consortium with French renewable energy company Vergnet SA (EPA:ALVER) and SNS Niger.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded by the Nigerian Electricity Company and includes a two-year operation and maintenance agreement for the hybrid power plant.
The project is very important for the city which is isolated from the rest of Niger as it lies at the gateway to the Sahara desert. It includes also rehabilitation of the Agadez electrical network and the electrification of the hamlet of Tibinitene.
