Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTJun 18, 2013 - Franco-Italian chipmaker STMicroelectronics (EPA:STM) said on Monday it had signed an agreement with US memory chip designer Rambus Inc (NASDAQ:RMBS), expanding existing licences, settling outstanding claims and paving the way for further collaboration.
Under the terms of the multifaceted deal, Rambus will have access to ST's fully-depleted silicon on insulator (FD-SOI) process-technology design environment. The US company will benefit from FD-SOI's reduced silicon geometries and lower power consumption in its future memory and interface solutions.
Moreover, ST has agreed licence terms from Cryptography Research division of Rambus so that the Franco-Italian group may deploy Differential Power Analysis (DPA) countermeasures and CryptoFirewall core security technology across a wider range of products.
Finally, ST will also be able to use Rambus' patented memory interface and serial-link innovations.
