The Moroccan unit of French renewable energy developer GreenYellow on Monday inaugurated a carport photovoltaic (PV) installation at the Bouskoura site of semiconductor maker STMicrolectronics (BIT: STM).

The 672 kWp self-consumption system comprises 2,400 solar panels which are expected to produce close to 1 GWh of green energy per year, avoiding the emission of 740 tonnes of CO2, according to the developer's calculations.

It's the second carport PV system at a STMicrolectronics site following the one in Catana, Italy and represents a firm statement for the Moroccan unit's commitment to energy transition goals, said Fabrice Gomez, director of the Bouskoura site.
