Nordex to supply 6.8-MW turbines for 68-MW German wind project
Sep 18, 2024 9:08 CESTFinnish pulp and paper maker Stora Enso Oyj (HEL:STERV) plans to install a steam turbine with a closed-loop cooling system and additional biomass storage at its Maxau mill in Germany as part of a EUR-25-million (USD 29.3m) project.
Specifically, the company intends to complement an existing Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant with a new 57-MW extraction-condensing turbine. It expects to start the project this quarter and complete it in 2020. The payback time for the investment is estimated at around four years.
Stora Enso said this move would contribute to its carbon neutral roadmap and science-based targets through higher share of biomass and higher efficiency. At that particular mill the company produces uncoated magazine papers.
