Styria to triple wind energy to 300 MW by 2020

Feb 12, 2013 - The Austrian state of Styria unveiled yesterday plans to triple the use of wind energy to 300 MW by 2020 under a new technical programme.

The state will install more than 100 wind turbines in Fischbacher Alpen, on Fuerstkogel, in Gaberl or in the regions of Kreischberg and Frauenalpe.

Planning procedures have already been launched for the first wind projects, ORF reported yesterday, citing the state’s renewable energy chief Siegfried Schrittwieser.

At present, Styria’s wind energy capacity stands at around 100 MW.
