Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTNorwegian independent power producer Scatec Solar ASA (OSL:SSO) is holding talks to construct a solar power station in Sudan with a capacity of not less than 400 MW, an official told Reuters.
The country’s investment minister Mubarak Al-Fadil told the news agency that a Sudanese delegation has met last week with Scatec Solar executives in Oslo to discuss “a power-sharing agreement”.
According to Al-Fadil, Sudan needs at least 5,000 MW of new power generating capacity, preferably from renewable sources. He said, as cited by Reuters, that a 400-MW solar park will require an investment of some USD 450 million (EUR 386m). The goal is to have the plant completed within a year of sealing the power purchase agreement (PPA).
At the same time, Danish companies plan to team up with Sudanese investors to build wind farms in the African country. The idea is to start with a 280-MW project, the minister has added.
