German solar developer SUNfarming GmbH has signed a definitive concession with the Dominican national energy commission (CNE), securing rights to build a 50-MW agro-energy solar photovoltaic complex in the Dominican Republic.

The concession will enable the company to build a solar farm in the town of Bani in Peravia province as part of the project named Complejo Agroenergetico e Innovador Para la Generacion de Energia Fotovoltaica y Produccion Agricola Sunfarming Food & Energy 50 MW, the CNE said on Tuesday.

The plant will feed electricity into the grid. It is unclear what kind of agricultural activity it will support.

The concession is granted for a period of 25 years from the date of the signing.
