Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd (SHE:300274) has provided a 500-kWh energy storage system, including an inverter, for a commercial and industrial (C&I) solar project in the Bahamas.

Specifically, the Chinese solar inverters maker has supplied a system comprising a 250-kW storage inverter and 500 kWh of lithium-ion batteries supplied by the Sungrow-Samsung SDI joint venture. The battery section features an air conditioner and an automatic fire fighting system.

Both the storage inverter and the batteries are customised for the North American C&I market, Sungrow said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to Sungrow president Renxian Cao, as of June 2017, the company’s energy storage equipment and system solutions are applied in more than 500 projects around the world, with a combined capacity of about 1.3 GWh.

Last month, the company said it had installed a 2.7-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) array along with a 700-kW/333-kWh energy storage system for five islands in the Maldives.
