US residential solar and storage company Sunnova Energy International Inc (NYSE:NOVA) on Tuesday unveiled a strategic partnership with The Home Depot (NYSE:HD) to become the sole provider of solar and battery storage services in the home improvement retailer’s stores across the US and its territories.

The agreement will make the Sunnova Adaptive Home energy offerings available in over 2,000 Home Depot stores.

“As utility rates continue to skyrocket across the country, weather patterns worsen, and remote work becomes more prevalent, the need for resilient, affordable, and dependable power at the home is non-negotiable,” said Sunnova chief revenue officer Michael Grasso.

The strategic pact builds on the companies’ existing relationship. In 2021, Sunnova introduced its SunSafe solar and battery storage service into 100 Home Depot stores in hurricane-prone regions like Florida, Virginia and Maryland. In 2022, these services became available in all Home Depot stores in Puerto Rico. In 2023, Sunnova expanded into 15 total markets with The Home Depot, covering about 400 stores.

Sunnova said it will leverage the local expertise of its dealer network to staff stores.
