SunPower installs 1.8 MW of solar power for Bloomberg in New Jersey

Jun 18, 2012 - US photovoltaic equipment maker SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWR) today said it had wrapped up a 1.8-MW solar system in New Jersey for US business news and financial data provider Bloomberg.

The facility is expected to generate enough power to cover 58% of the power consumption of Bloomberg's main building at its Skillman campus. Under a long-term power purchase agreement, the company will receive the solar system's output at prices below retail rates. A unit of Integrys Energy Services Inc owns the installation and is also selling the solar renewable energy credits and environmental attributes generated by it.

Apart from the solar panels for the system SunPower also provided the tracker system, thanks to which the panels follows the sun throughout the day, boosting the installation's output by as many as 25%. Part of the project costs were covered via the solar loan programme of Public Service Electric and Gas Co (PSE&G), part of Public Service Enterprise Group (NYSE:PEG), SunPower added.
