Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTFeb 28, 2013 - US photovoltaics (PV) maker SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWR) will supply 400 kW of solar panels for the new Santa Clara Stadium, which will become the new home of American football team the San Francisco 49ers.
The solar company said this week it had been named the official and exclusive solar technology partner of the San Francisco 49ers and the new stadium.
The SunPower panels will be used to produce enough electricity during a year to offset the power consumption of 49ers home games. They will be installed in three solar array-covered bridges, a canopy above the green roof on the suite tower section of the stadium and on the 49ers training facility. The panels will be produced at the company's Silicon Valley plant.
The Santa Clara stadium, which will seat 68,500, is designed as a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting events such as domestic and international soccer, college football, motocross and concerts.
