Jordan Green agrees land deal for solar-powered green ammonia hub
Sep 20, 2024 5:52 CESTJul 22, 2013 - Suntech Power Holdings Co (NYSE:STP) is supplying the photovoltaic modules for a 30 MW plant in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, the company announced today.
The 132,000 Suntech Ve and Vd panels will be installed by Portuguese Martifer Solar on a 100-ha site. The project, considered Latin America's largest solar field, is being developed by Mexican Gauss Energia for Corporacion Aura Solar.
The initiative has strong financial support from Mexican local development bank NAFIN, and from the International Finance Corporation. It is Mexico's first utility-scale solar project with a power purchase agreement from Mexico's federal power company CFE.
The plant will have a production capacity of 82 GWh per year, able to offset more than 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. The construction is seen to be completed in August 2013.
