SunWize builds 546-kW solar plant in Samoa

Aug 26, 2014 - US solar firm SunWize Technologies Inc said today it has finalised the installation of a 546-kW solar power generation facility in the Independent State of Samoa, thus helping the country trim fossil fuel use.

The company partnered with local utility Electric Power Corporation (EPC) for the project. The financing for the solar scheme was provided by the Japanese government by way of the Pacific Environment Community Fund.

The ground-mounted solar facility consists of three separate sites, located on the Samoan islands of Savai'I and Upolu. SunWize also installed a 1.8-MW system in American Samoa in 2012 and a smaller one in the city of Pago Pago.

The San Jose-based company designs, engineers and installs and finances on- and off-grid solar systems.
