Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTApr 19, 2012 - US solar power company SunWize Technologies Inc yesterday said it had completed a 1.75-MW solar power system on the island of American Samoa in the South Pacific for local public utility American Samoa Power Authority.
The ground-mounted system includes 7,308 Sharp solar panels installed on 3.93 acres (1.6 ha) of land. SunWize hired local subcontractors during the installation, which took five months.
The project, which received support by the US Department of Energy, will enable the utility to reduce its dependence on diesel generators for electricity production, the utility's CEO Andra Samoa said.
The solar system is to be officially opened today, SunWize said.
