Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 12 (SeeNews) – Suzlon Wind Energy BH, a unit of Danish company Suzlon Wind Energy A/S, has applied for an environmental permit for the planned construction of a 25MW wind farm in Hadzici, the environment ministry of Bosnia's Federation said.
All interested parties can submit their comments and recommendations regarding the planned Ivan Sedlo wind farm within 15 days after Suzlon's application is published on the website of the environment ministry of the Federation, the ministry said in a statement earlier this week.
In 2018, Sarajevo-based Suzlon Wind Energy BH signed a 30-year concession contract with Sarajevo Canton for the construction and operation of the wind farm in the town of Hadzici, near the Bosnian capital. Sarajevo Canton is one of 10 cantons that make up the Federation entity.
The company already has a valid environmental permit to erect 12 wind turbines of 2.1 MW each at the location. However, according to documents uploaded on the ministry's website this week, the company has in the meantime made some technical modifications deciding to cut the number of wind turbines to five, while leaving the original capacity of the wind farm unchanged at some 25 MW.
Therefore, it is now applying for a new environmental permit for the modified project.
Back in 2018, when the concession deal was signed, the Sarajevo cantonal government said that the construction of the Ivan Sedlo wind farm was estimated to cost 30 million euro ($35 million). It has noted that the concession contract can be renewed for up to 15 years.
Suzlon was initially expected to launch construction works on the project in 2019.
The Federation is one of two entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
