Suzlon's Repower bags 266 MW of turbine orders in Germany

Dec 11, 2013 - India's Suzlon Energy Lts (BOM:532667) said today its unit Repower Systems SE (ETR:RPW) had won contracts to supply more than 266 MW of wind turbines for 24 community wind projects in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.

The agreements were signed with different contractors. Repower was competing for supply deals for total of 52 projects in the state and won order for 55% of the capacity. Project participants were negotiating prices with four different turbine manufacturers for their own locations.

The 24 projects for Repower will use various turbines by the company, including the 59-metre (194 ft) MM82 model and the 93-m (305 ft) 3.2M114 machine. They "are to be commissioned quickly", Suzlon said, adding that the other projects are to reach completion in 2015.

Repower Systems CEO Andreas Nauen said the order would significantly bolster the company's position in northern Germany.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
