Swedish commercial solar developer Alight AB has opened an office in London to expand into the UK market, after completing its first project in the country.

The London office has added Cesar Torres, ex-executive at Nala Renewables, NextEnergy Capital and EY, as its vice president, investments; Xander Penney, ex-EY-Parthenon, as business development director; and Philip Tonkin, formerly of law firm Addleshaw Goddard, as new legal council, Alight said in a press release on Tuesday.

The appointments come shortly after Alight announced an expanded partnership with US automotive company Lear Corp (NYSE:LEA), which will see the Swedish firm develop, build and operate five on-site solar arrays at Lear locations in Spain, Poland and the UK.

The first of these projects was set in the UK, at Lear’s Alfreton site where alight recently commissioned a 2.1-MW solar power system. The remaining projects in Spain and Poland are due to become operational during 2024.
