Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTSwiss investors plan to build a 300-MW solar park in Iran, with construction slated to begin within four months, ANA News Agency said on Tuesday.
The photovoltaic (PV) complex will be built in the North Khorasan province and be the largest of its kind in the northeast, Alireza Sabouri, managing director of North Khorasan Power Distribution Company told the news agency. The foreign investors have already signed a deal on the project with the Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA). They will be responsible for the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the plant.
SUNA has provided a 60-ha (148-acre) plot of land near a 400-kV power station in the city of Jajrom, according to the report.
The power plant will use solar panels and inverters, but in order to comply with a directive for using locally-made equipment all other components will be supplied and installed by Iranian companies, Sabouri said, as cited by ANA.
Iran aims at 5 GW renewable power capacity by 2020 to diversify its mix. Currently it relies heavily on fossil fuels and has less than a few hundred MW of installed renewable power plants.
