Swiss SGS buys German Umweltanalytik RUK

Feb 7, 2013 - Swiss certification and inspection group SGS (VTX:SGSN) said yesterday it acquired German private provider of biogas, stack and fugitive emission testing services Umweltanalytik RUK GmbH.

The purchase price was not disclosed. Through the transaction SGS enters the renewable energy market.

Umweltanalytik RUK was founded in 1991. It has 17 employees and its 2012 revenue totalled EUR 2 million (USD 2.7m).

Last year SGS’ revenue grew by 16.3% to CHF 5.6 billion (USD 6.2bn/EUR 4.5bn) and was boosted by takeovers among other things.
