Helsinki-based renewables developer and fund manager Taaleri Energia has held a second closing of its sixth renewable energy fund, securing commitments totalling EUR 430 million (USD 476.4m).

The recently achieved second close of Taaleri SolarWind III Fund has enabled the acquisition of new development projects to grow the fund’s portfolio to 61 schemes totalling 5.9 GW in power generation capacity. According to the statement, construction has already been launched on a battery energy storage system in Finland, with building works due to begin on another three to four projects in 2024.

Taaleri SolarWind III Fund was launched in November 2022 and seeks to raise EUR 600 million, with its maximum size capped at EUR 900 million. The fund will operate in the Nordic and Baltic markets, Poland, Southeastern Europe, Spain and Texas and will remain open for new commitments until December 2024, at the earliest. It was seeded with a portfolio of 50 onshore wind, solar and battery storage projects that Taaleri Energia bought 18 months before the first closing last July.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Fund, KBC Verzekeringen, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Taaleri and the Taaleri Energia team are among Taaleri SolarWind III Fund’s investors.
