World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CEST(SeeNews) – Dec 12, 2011 – The government of India's state of Tamil Nadu has announced plans to set up a 50-MW solar power facility in the southern part of the state, in an attempt to combat power shortage, the Business Standard said on Saturday, citing electricity minister Natham R Viswanathan.
At the inauguration of the Energy ’11 conference, the state's minister said the project would be developed via the Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TNEDA). It will comprise a 30 MW project and a 20 MW project, with tenders for them to be called soon.
One of the projects would be based on photovoltaic technology, while the other would be based on thermal one.
The overall investment in the project is expected to reach INR 50 billion (USD 949m/EUR 716m).
