The renewable energy unit of Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400) has been contracted to build an 18.75-MW captive solar farm under an INR-1.05-billion (USD 12.6m/EUR 11.8m) power delivery agreement (PDA).

The power plant will be built for Tata Communications Ltd (BOM:500483) in the village of Aachegaon, Maharashtra district, according to a statement.

Once operational, the facility will generate about 40 million kWh of clean power annually, eliminating more than 30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

“By incorporating renewable energy sources in its energy consumption mix, Tata Communications reaffirms its commitment to environmental responsibility and adopting eco-friendly energy alternatives,” according to the press release.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has a portfolio of operating assets standing at 4,271 MW, including 3,244 MW in solar projects and 1,027 MW in wind projects.
