Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) said it has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 9-MWp on-campus solar installation to power a factory of automaker Tata Motors Ltd (BOM:500570) in the northern part of India.

The solar farm, which will have ground-mounted panels, is scheduled to be commissioned within six months. It is described as the largest on-campus solar facility in the state of Uttarakhand, according to a statement from Monday.

TPREL and Tata Motors previously teamed up for the construction of a 7-MWp solar site at the Pantnagar manufacturing facility. Upon completion of the new project, the two installations will generate 22.4 million kWh annually.

Earlier in August, TPREL, which is the renewables development arm of India's Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400), announced that it will install two solar power plants in Maharashtra totalling 350 MW under a couple of newly-signed power purchase agreements (PPAs).
