India’s Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400) will install a 4-MWp solar array at the commercial vehicle manufacturing facility in Pune that is run by Tata Motors Ltd (BOM:500570).

The two Tata Group companies have entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) under which the solar project will be realised. Thus, the on-site solar capacity there will expand to 9 MWp, according to an announcement on Wednesday.

Upon completion, the 4-MWp solar power system will be generating some 5.8 million kWh of electricity per year.

“In FY22, the total renewable energy contribution at our CV Pune plant was 32%. With this agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to moving closer to our goals of cultivating 100% renewable energy capacity,” commented Alok Kumar Singh, the head of the plant.

In fiscal year 2022, Tata Motors produced 92.39 million kWh of renewable power across all its plants in India, corresponding to 19.4% of its total power consumption.
