World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTJul 19, 2012 - Telit Wireless Solutions, a unit of UK machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services group Telit Communications Plc (LON:TCM), said Tuesday it had supplied German renewable energy group IPM System International with M2M technology that allows the connection of solar photovoltaic (PV) system to smart grids.
Under the terms of the contract, Telit's GE865 GSM/GPRS module has been fitted to individual solar modules as a key part of IPM System's variable switching arrangement.
IPM System's key product, the Intelligent Power Management System (IPM SYSTEM), is a smart grid-compatible system that enables solar PV operators to regulate and control electricity generation in order to improve efficiency, transparency, flexibility and safety of their installations. IPM System says that its system can be used with new and existing solar installations and allows the efficiency of the PV systems to be increased by up to 21% via M2M communication. The IPM SYSTEM allows constant monitoring of the PV systems' status and fast detection of faults or efficiency losses.
The system uses Deutsche Telekom AG (ETR:DTE) SIM cards in combination with Telit's modules for the M2M communication.
