Thai partners to work on catalyst tech for biodiesel, bioethanol Source: SCG Chemicals Co Ltd (www.scgchemicals.com)

Thai petrochemical company SCG Chemicals Co Ltd will partner with the Thailand Research Fund (TRF) and Thailand's Chulalongkorn University to develop catalyst-based technology for the biodiesel and bioethanol industries.

The company said earlier this week it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TRF and the university for research and development (R&D) activities. A total of five organisations from the private sector are founding partners in the project.

The partners aims to build knowledge to help find a route towards developing catalyst-based technology and chemical reaction engineering for the biodiesel and bioethanol sectors and catalyst industries such as the petrochemical industry.

SCG Chemicals said that developing a new catalyst suitable for Thailand will support the production of high value-added products which will reduce the country's dependence on imports and help cut industrial costs.
