Ammper Power to procure electricity from 50-MW solar park in Texas
Sep 20, 2024 5:46 CESTJan 11, 2013 - Thai solar project developer SPCG (MAI:SPCG) intends to install and operate solar power plants in Myanmar jointly with local partners, the Bangkok Post reported today, citing the company's chairwoman Wandee Khunchornyakong.
The off-grid solar plants will have capacity below 2 MW and will serve rural communities in Myanmar. Each plant will cost THB 7 million (USD 231,000/EUR 174,000) to THB 14 million, according to the daily.
SPCG has selected two potential locations. It has also secured potential local partners and plans to form a joint venture company in the second half of the year and start building the first solar plant in 2014, Khunchornyakong said.
The daily expects SPCG to develop mixed green energy projects in Myanmar such as solar plants with small hydropower plants or wind power facilities.
Myanmar, with power capacity of 2,500 MW and population of 55 million, is unable to meet the growing demand for power, according to Wandee Khunchornyakong.
