Thailand’s Mitr Phol to diversify into rooftop solar power -report

Jul 16, 2014 - Thailand-based sugar and ethanol producer Mitr Phol Group said today it will add solar rooftop installation to its green operations through a THB 56 million (USD 1.7m/EUR 1.3m) investment, the Bangkok Post said today.

The company will instal nearly 1 MW of solar panels on the roof of a storage buildings in Chaiyaphum. The installation will generate 1.300 million kWh of electricity annually, which the firm will provide to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). The installation will reduce crude oil use by 100 tonnes and carbon dioxide emissions by 700 tonnes per year.

Mitr Phol's green operation include ethanol production for fuel blends and biomass power plants using byproduct from the sugar plants.
