ABP presents plan to turn Port of Barrow into renewables hub
Sep 18, 2024 14:41 CESTBristol-based renewable energy investor Thrive Renewables has acquired the development rights to build a 13.5-MW onshore wind farm in Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales from REG Power Management (RPM).
Located on Mynydd Maerdy, the three-turbine Abergorki project was one of 21 onshore wind schemes to secure a Contract for Difference (CfD) in Auction Round 6 of the UK Government. It was granted planning permission by the local council in July 2015.
Construction works at the site are set to start in the spring of 2025. Once commissioned, expected in 2026, the facility will produce up to 40 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power 12,349 local homes.
Founded in 1994, Thrive funds, builds and operates clean energy projects. The company generated 136,316 MWh of green electricity in 2023, according to its website.
