A unit of Moroccan company Nova Power intends to construct a 25-MW solar park in the northern part of Ivory Coast, a government spokesman said on Wednesday, as cited by Reuters.

Nova Power’s Korhogo Solaire unit plans to build the XOF-23.6-billion (USD 40m/EUR 36m) facility by 2018, the official, Bruno Kone, has said. The project will help integrate more renewables into the country’s energy mix, he added.

The government of Ivory Coast hopes to double its power output to 4,000 MW by 2020 in response to rising electricity demand, Reuters said.
