to-the-point: Antigua and Barbuda eye renewables backing from Japan

On Monday the Antigua and Barbuda government had a meeting with Japanese officials to discuss assistance for achieving a 20% renewable energy share by 2020, and improvement in energy efficiency.

After the meeting, it was decided that the Caribbean country will submit an integrated package of proposals to Japan's government, specifying the areas that require assistance. Along with measures for the steady integration of renewable energy into the national grid, the proposal package should include as well the assessment of the feasibility of a waste-to-energy plant in Antigua, according to a press release.

Investments from the Japanese private sector to boost the development of Antigua and Barbuda's wind and solar market were also discussed.
