A solar photovoltaic (PV) park with a capacity of 100 MW will be constructed in Bahrain, the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said on Tuesday.

The government of the Arab Kingdom will develop the project in partnership with private sector investors through a competitive bidding process. The tender procedures are planned to start in February 2018, while construction of the plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019.

The project will be implemented in line with Bahrain’s National Energy Efficiency Plan and the National Renewable Energy Plan under which the country will aim to produce 5% of its total power from renewables by 2025.
