Botswana's government initiated a tender process on Tuesday for the installations of solar power stations near its Jwaneng diamond mine and in the country's northwest.

The government released an open invitation for investors in the state-owned Daily News. Although the notice did not specify the sought capacity, the state previously indicated it wishes 100-MW solar power tenders to be divided equally between Jwaneng and the northwest mines, Reuters said.

Studies conducted in the country have shown that Jwaneng is the most suitable place for a solar farm, the news agency added.
