Cairo-based Infinity Solar Systems will build a 1.5-MW solar system for Coca-Cola Egypt’s plant in the port city of Alexandria, Infinity CEO Medhat Shokry told Daily News Egypt.

The EGP-40-million (USD 2.1m/EUR 2m) photovoltaic (PV) park is part of a bigger project that also envisages the recycling of wastewater, the installation of LED lighting, and other measures to reduce Coca-Cola’s power use. Local banks QNB Alahli and Banque Misr will extend financing for the Green Company Project.

Infinity expects to complete installation of the solar system in about six months from the signing of the contracts, according to the report. It will be hooked to the grid under the feed-in tariff (FiT) programme.
