A 61-MW wind park, the largest in Iran, was opened on Monday in the northwestern part of the country, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

The facility is located in the Shiahpoosh region in the province of Qazvin. It features 18 turbines and required an investment of EUR 86 million (USD 100.8m), according to the article.

Iran's energy minister Reza Ardakanian, who attended the opening ceremony, was cited as saying that Iran has 640 MW of renewable power plants, with wind accounting for 45% of that figure.
