Construction has been completed of a 10-MW solar power plant in Iran’s Isfahan province, a project realised by local Ghadir Investment Company and Greek engineering firm Metka (ATH:METKK).

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) said today it took the companies about seven months to complete the solar photovoltaic (PV) park, which has some 39,000 panels. The project required an investment of some USD 15 million (EUR 14m).

The solar power will be sold to the Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA) under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Iran aims at 5 GW renewable power capacity by 2020 to diversify its mix. Currently it relies heavily on fossil fuels.
